September 2015 at Living Word – Our focus for the month is the promises of God.
Children Learn
Sept 6th King Saul – 1 Samuel 9-10; 11:12-15; 13:1-15; 15, Psalm 89:1, Joshua 1:9. Samuel anointed Saul to be king. The Spirit of God was there to help Saul. Saul was given promises but he failed to claim the promises. He did not keep God’s commands. Samuel told him that God would find someone else to king. God wanted someone who would obey Him.
Sept 13th David & Jonathan – 1 Samuel 14:49; 18:1-4; 20; Psalm 32:8; 89:1 True friends support each other as they respond to God’s calling in their life.
Sept 20 David the Shepherd – 1 Samuel 16; Psalm 23; 33:18; 147:10 God does not look at the outside but what is in the heart. God will help you with the skills to be proficient in the job He calls you to do. God wants me to seek His will and follow it.
Sept 27 David & Goliath 1 Samuel 17:1-50; Psalm 47:2; 89:1 People can trust God to help them in times of trouble. My God can. You may come against me with weapons but I come in the name of the Lord. For forty days Goliath asked for someone to fight him. God sent a shepherd boy who followed His heart. The same God who saved that boy from a bear & lion would save him from a 9’9” tall trained warrior.
Youth learn
Sept 6th God’s promise of faithfulness Psalm 89:1-2, 5-8, 15-18 God is faithful in every circumstance. We all need reminders of how much God values and loves us. What actions do you take to reflect on God’s faithfulness? Look up the following promises of God. Isaiah 40:29-31, Jeremiah 29:11, Matthew 11:28-29, Philippians 4:19. Can you praise God for His faithfulness in your life?
Sept 13th God’s promise of eternal life 1 John 5:6-13, Romans 10:9 You are created for eternal life in Christ. What products or activities promise to increase your lifespan? Life does go on indefinitely are you ready for it?
Sept 20 God’s promise of provision Psalm 34:1-14; Matthew 6:19-21,33; Luke 12:15; Philippians 4:12-13; Ephesians 3:20 God provides for those who chose to live under His Care. God responds when we turn to Him. He provides all we need.
Sept 27 God’s promise of answered prayer. Luke 11:5-13. God hears us and answers but He also knows our true heart & what our true needs are. Daily needs, forgiven sins, & avoid temptations.
Accomplishments, ballgames, belongings, cars, friends, relationships & winning can make us happy for a while but they can’t ultimately satisfy us. Looking for something more than a good feeling? God offers promises & delivers an abundant life the will never end. What road do you follow? Romans 3:10,23; 5:8,12; 6:23; 10:9-10
