September 2023 at Living Word – School is back. Many students are working to settle into a new classroom with new curriculums and a different teacher. Surroundings and friendships may be different but students need to understand God will never change and we pray their relationship with Him will grow.
How can students learn and apply God’s Word in appropriate ways? No matter our age we all should continue to grow in wisdom and understanding of how we can trust and obey God in our daily life. This month our students will be learning about women in the Bible who demonstrated trust and obedience to God and His plan in their lives. We can learn about and recognize the authority of God. We should be working to develop and use our abilities, gifts, and talents to serve God. What are your plans for making the right choices and honoring God?
September 3 Look at the competition, do you really think you have a chance to win? People should learn about, recognize, and respect God’s authority. Joshua 2:6; 1 Kings 8:60 The people of Jericho had heard the amazing things that God had done. The sea had parted a powerful enemy was destroyed. Rahab declared that the God of Israel was the God of heaven and earth. She wanted him to be her God as well. Rahab helped the Israelites as she hid the spies in Jericho. Rahab and her family were saved because of her trust and obedience to God. We can read stories of God’s authority and power but more importantly we can experience it. How does your faith lead you respond to the purpose you were designed for?
September 10 People can fail. People can live in fear. Thoughts of failure and fear can hold people back. People can develop and use their abilities and talents to fulfill their designed purpose. Sometimes following God may mean you face scary situations but God will remain true to His promises. Judges 4:1-16,23-24; 5; 1 Kings 8:60; Psalms 20:7. Sisera and his army seemed impossible to defeat. Deborah followed God’s plan and with God’s guidance judged the people. Deborah used the abilities, gifts, and talents to serve God.
September 17 Never let the fear of the situation overwhelm you. Rejection is ok when we are rejecting what is wrong. How do you decide which choice to make? We all need to choose what is right and reject what is wrong. Esther 2:2-18; 3:8-13; 4-5; 7-8; 1 Kings 8:60; Proverbs 3:5-6. Esther Helped her people. Esther trusted God and did what was right even in difficult circumstances. Our awe, respect, and reverence for God will enable us to push past our fears to do what is right.
September 24 Living in need is terrifying. We can’t rely on our own power and understanding to avoid desperate and hopeless situations. What are your thoughts on obedience, respect, and trust? We can trust God with all of our needs. We just need to choose the right path to follow and reject things that are wrong. 2 Kings 4:1-7; 1 Kings 8:60; Psalm 46:1. The instructions didn’t make much sense but the widow obeyed. The widow listened to the message given to her by a prophet and made the correct choices. Do you place your trust in God and allow the Holy Spirit to guide and provide.
