August 2022 at Living Word
When it comes to earthly families and relationships many people experience difficulties in life whether it be homelife, divorce, death, scheduling, sibling issues, or workloads. We must understand that God loves families even when things are not easy. God is faithful to hear us when we take time to talk to Him, in fact He would like to have a fulltime relationship with you in His family. This month our students will be learning about God’s unique, creative, and perfect design for families. While no two families are exactly alike God calls all families to intentionally love and serve one another while obeying God together.
August 7 How are you working to outdo one another in love, respect, and service? Living in families is part of God’s plan for people. Ruth 1-4; Romans 12:10; 1 John 4:7 – Ruth, Boaz, and Obed, God had a plan for Ruth and her family and God has a plan for you. Take time to pray for families and your relationship with others. Take time to name each one and ask for God’s blessings to be upon them.
August 14 How many commercials, jingles, or slogans do you remember. When you hear certain brand names what do you think about? Why do you remember those details? Repetition is key in many of the things we can recall. Why can’t we see ads and commercials on how God planned for families to love, respect, and help one another to reflect God’s love to the world. Families can learn about God from one another. Deuteronomy 4-6; 1 John 4:7 – Moses spoke to the families; God commanded the people to repeat His commandments to their children reminding them of His love and what He had done for them.
August 21 We are not there yet. How much longer is it? Family members should work together to live peacefully, God gave us families to grow together peacefully and accomplish the goals and plans He provides us with. Genesis 13; Ephesians 4:32; 1 John 4:7 – Abram and Lot needed a resolution for their families. Abram did not just talk; he took action without complaining. Even though he took the lead role he offered Lot first choice. God reaffirmed His promise Genesis 12:1-3; 13:14-17.
August 28 It does not have to be expensive or time consuming. With all the electronic devices, sadly many people have lost the connection. God wants us to grow in what we know and show His love to people in our communities. Families can help people in their communities, you can simply pay attention to what God is calling you to do. God will provide the resources for you and your family to complete the task. 2 Kings 4:8-17; 1 John 4:7 – A Couple helped Elisha and God received the glory and honor because they were willing to share the time and resources God had given them.
God’s plan is for all family members to work together so that God is honored by their family.
