August 2024 at Living Word. Many people find it hard to believe but it can easily be explained by those who trust in God and receive His blessings and miracles. This month our students will be studying about the amazing acts of Jesus. Methods varied from event to event. While miracles took place the real power did not come from His techniques, touch, or words, it came from who He was. Jesus walked the earth fully man yet fully God. Jesus can do things that no else can do. Jesus performed many miracles through the power of God. How can you boldly share God’s love and Good News? Saul told about Jesus- Acts 3:19; 9:19-31; Mark 16:15. He could not keep quiet about Jesus because he not only found the message, he had experienced the power! People need and can receive God’s salvation. 

August 4 Do you believe miracles still happen today? The book of Matthew displays many miracles as Jesus came to do God’s work. He was fulfilling what the prophets had foretold of. Jesus helps people because He and God love them. Matthew 14:14. Pre-K and Kinder learn Jesus fed a crowd John 6:1-15,38 School students learn Jesus healed the sick. Matthew 8:1-15, 19:26. John 20:31. Take time to reflect on how God provides hope to you today. Ask God to open your mind today so you can see the miracles and power of God at work in the world around you.

August 11 Have you experience it? The heavy rain comes down, strong winds blow object around as thunder shakes the house as the lightning streaks across the sky. How well do you sleep through a scary storm? Jesus slept as the storm raged. Don’t you care we are going to die? The wind and the sea had no choice but to obey as Jesus calmed the storm. Mark 4:35-41, 8:27; John 6:38, 20:31 Jesus is God’s Son and has power over nature. Matthew 21:19; John 6:16-21, 21:6; Luke 5:5-6. Have you experienced God’s power over creation and all things. Plug into that power and share His love.

August 18 Can you see it? Spiritual blindness is a big problem in today’s world. Jesus walked the earth and healed people as He shared God’s love and plan for them. Pre-K and Kinder learn Jesus made Bartimaeus well. Mark 10:46-52; John 6:38; Luke 7:21 School students learn Jesus raised Lazarus. Jesus came to earth to show His power over death because He was offering us eternal life. John 11:1-44, 20:31

August 25 Their living depended on it, things had not gone so well, it was a very unsuccessful night. The blessing and trials were yet to come. Jesus gave them instructions. They had to make a choice. He came to do God’s work and was making them fishers of men. They found that Jesus does things that no person can do. Jesus helped his disciples. He had great plans for them. Luke 5:1-11; Matthew 4:19, 26:56; John 6:38-40, 20:30-31, 21:1-14. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide, help, and provide for us. Will you take on the task you are called to do?
